How It Happened
- The game was a back-and-forth affair, as the Mounties grabbed the first lead but eventually the Hawks would take the lead and hold on to it for most of the first half. Hilbert would lead by as many as 10 points, two different times in the first period, but a Hagwood three-pointer at the halftime buzzer cut the Hawk lead to two, heading into the break.
- Despite the lead changing hands multiple times in the second half, the Mounties still found themselves down double-digits at a point. A Hilbert free throw with 13:06 remaining opened their biggest lead of 13 points at 68-55.
- Mount Aloysius fought back, leading by three, 82-79, with 4:34 to go. The two teams then tied at 88, saw the final minute go a combined 2-for-6 at the free throw line, including two consecutive missed free throws by Hilbert, with two seconds remaining, to send the game into overtime.
- Both teams traded the first 12 points, with each team having a two-point lead, but the game was still knotted at 95 with 2:26 left. However, Hilbert went 7-for-8 from the free throw line down the stretch, and added one layup, to outscore the Mounties, 9-2. The scoring burst gave the Hawks the 104-97 victory.
