Mounties Get Back into Win Column with AMCC Road Victory

BRADFORD, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team traveled to Pitt-Bradford, on Saturday, for a rematch with the Panthers. The Mounties completed the season sweep, downing the Panthers, 55-50.

Leaders
- Karissa Mercier (Freedom, Pa. / Freedom) led the Mounties in scoring, with a game-high, 17 points. She also added four rebounds and four steals.
- China Jenkins (Fort Myers, Fla. / Evangelical Christian School) filled up the stat-sheet, with a 15 point-14 rebound, double-double. She tossed out three assists and blocked four shots.
- Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples) also scored 15 points, as the third Mountie to reach double-figures.

How It Happened
- Richards got the Mounties off to a good start, knocking down a three on the first possession of the game. The Mounties continued to have a strong first quarter, as Mercier hit a three and another jumper, while Richards added two more free throws, helping to propel them to a 12-5 lead.
- Pitt-Bradford scored the first six points of the second quarter, before another Mercier three-pointer stopped the run. The Mounties maintained a lead through the rest of the half, leading by as many as seven points before two Panther free throws cut the lead to five, heading into the break.
- To begin the second half, Richards knocked down another three on the Mounties' first possession, extending the lead to eight points. Each team would eventually have six point swings, as the Panthers scored the next six points to cut the lead down to two. Mount Aloysius would follow that up by pushing their lead back up to eight. Thanks to free throws in the final minute of the quarter, the lead would go back to five, heading into the fourth period.
- Hanna Rittenhouse (Mc Veytown, Pa. / Mifflin County) would make her lone field goal of the game, a three-pointer, with just over nine minutes remaining, to extend the Mounties lead back to eight points. The Mounties saw their lead quickly evaporate, as the Panthers scored the next nine points to take a one point lead. After trading the leads a couple times, the Mounties went a 7-0 run, capped by a steal and traditional three-point play by Mercier. That was the last field goal of the game, as both teams only made free throws down the stretch. Mercier was clutch down the stretch, going 5-for-5 all in the fourth quarter, to clinch the victory.
