MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Mount Aloysius Softball team opened their season, Sunday and Monday, playing four games in Myrtle Beach, as part of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. The Mounties picked up their first win, Monday morning, with a 5-4 win over Saint Joseph (Conn.), but fell in their three other contests.

Grace Gardini (York, Pa. / York Catholic) leads the Mounties so far, with five hits in ten at-bats. She also picked up an RBI and a stolen base, in three games.

Sarah Henninger (DuBois, Pa. /Â DuBois) drove in a team-high, three runs, while starting in all four games.

Anna Peterman (Clymer, Pa. /Â Penns Manor) had one of the better performances in the circle, as she went 5.2 innings and allowed just two earned runs, while striking out three. Despite her positive performance, she was tabbed with the loss.

Bella Piacesi (Woodbridge, Va. / Charles Cogan) delivered a game-tying double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning against Saint Joseph (Conn.). Her double scored two runs to tie the game at four. In the seventh,Â
Makayla Weyant (Bedford, Pa. / Chestnut Ridge) drove in her second run of the game to give the Mounties a walk-off victory, 5-4, over the Blue Jays.
- In the Mounties 3-1 loss to Lycoming, Gardini picked up two hits in four at-bats and reached base in all three of her plate appearances. She scored the lone Mountie run of the game, which came on aÂ
Ella Pearson (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) RBI single. Peterman kept the Mounties in the game, but also saw her defense commit four errors in the contest.
- Spalding scored one run in each of the first two innings, while Mount Aloysius matched them in the bottom of each frame. Cole and Henninger each provided RBI singles. The Golden Eagles would go on to score four more runs, but the Mounties were unable to answer those, falling, 6-2.
