Mounties Can't Slip Past Bullets

CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team had their best offensive output of the season, on Sunday, but still fell to Gettysburg in a non-conference matchup.

Leaders
- Zack Peck (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon) led the Mounties by driving in five runs and blasting two homeruns. He went 3-for-7 on the day.
- Three other Mounties all tallied three hits and two RBIs, each. Joshua Brown (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn Park), Ryan Lynn (Butler, Pa. / Butler), and Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md. / Chopticon) all accomplished the feat.
- Jeremy Eck (Myerstown, Pa. / Eastern Lebanon County) made a strong appearance out of the bullpen, tossing 1.1 innings and retiring every batter he faced.

Highlights
- In the third inning, the Mounties got an RBI sacrifice fly from Aidan Bell (Woodbridge, Va. / Prince William County), a two-run shot over the left field fence by Peck, and an RBI single from Lynn to score four runs and take a 7-4 lead.
- A seven-run fourth inning for Gettysburg put them in the lead 11-7. The Mounties got an two-RBI double from J. Brown in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the lead to 11-10.
- Peck hit his second homer of the game, in the sixth inning, as part of a four-run Mountie frame. The homerun was his fifth of the season and fourth of the week.
- The Mounties trailed 21-15 following the Bullets' half of the eighth inning. Quade laid down a bases loaded bunt, that rolled down to the third base line and stopped on the line as a fair ball, scoring the run from third. The Mounties added another run before a Peck RBI single off the pitcher, his third hit of the day, drove in another run and cut the lead to 21-18.
- Gavin Constein (Columbia, Pa. / Hempfield) drove in a run on a single to center field and the Mounties loaded the bases with nobody out, down two runs. Ryan Bushey (Latrobe, Pa. / Derry) cut the lead to 21-20 on a sacrifice bunt, which forced the Bullets to intentionally walk Quade to load the bases again with one out. The Mounties were unable to push a run across and fell, 21-20.

Into the Box Score
- Seven different Mountie starters had multi-hit games. John Griffith (Bryans Road, Md. / Henry E. Lackey) and Brandon Shane (Boyertown, Pa. / Boyertown) each added pinch hit singles, as well. Shane's hit was his second pinch-hit base hit of the season. He's currently batting 1.000.
- There were 14 total pitchers used in the game by both teams, combined. The pitchers combined to walk 24 total batters.
