Mounties Run Winning Streak to Five Games, Sweep Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Baseball team swept their second consecutive double-header, on Wednesday, when they topped Juniata on the road. The Mounties two victories added to their winning streak, pushing it to five straight games.

Leaders
- Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md. / Chopticon) and Tyler Suder (Boswell, Pa. / North Star) each made massive contributions on the offensive end, tallying six hits each, across the double-header. Quade went 4-for-5 in Game One with three runs scored, while Suder went 3-for-4 and scored four times, including a homerun. In Game Two, Suder reached base all four plate appearances and finished 3-for-3.
- Joshua Brown (Manassas, Va. / Osbourn Park) was the other Mountie that had multiple hits in each game, going 5-for-8 on the day, including a triple.
- Senior, Ryan Lynn (Butler, Pa. / Butler), hit his third and fourth home runs of the season, with one coming in each game. Lynn went 3-for-9 and drove in three runs.

How It Happened
Game One
- Mount Aloysius took control quickly, as Suder led off the game with a single. Quade would drive him in with an RBI double and would later score on a J. Brown RBI single, giving the Mounties a 2-0 lead.
- After Juniata scored a run in the bottom of the first, the Mounties would score ten unanswered runs in the final five innings of the game. J. Brown drove in Quade in the third inning to make it 3-1. Then, in the fourth inning, Suder and Lynn hit back-to-back solo homers, growing the lead to 5-1. Quade followed them with a single and moved himself around the bases, eventually scoring on a passed ball, making the score 6-1.
- In the fifth inning,  delivered a one-out, two-RBI double, in his pinch hit appearance.  Gavin Constein (Columbia, Pa. / Hempfield), Lynn, and Aidan Bell (Woodbridge, Va. / Prince William County) would all pick up RBI singles before the Eagles got three outs, extending the lead to 11-1.
- Mount Aloysius added one more run in the top of the seventh, as Quade tripled to drive in Suder. Dylan Brown (La Plata, Md. / La Plata) then tossed a scoreless seventh inning to complete to 12-1 victory.

Game Two
- After a scoreless first inning, Mount Aloysius jumped ahead again in the second. Freshman Cole Harkness (Hughesville, Md. / Saint Mary's Ryken) drove in the first run of the game, on a sacrifice fly. Troy Emert (Rockwood, Pa. / Rockwood) scored the second run on a double steal attempt before Suder delivered a two-out double to drive in the third run, giving the Mounties a 3-0 advantage.
- Lynn gave the Mounties an insurance run with a leadoff home run in the third inning, putting them ahead, 4-0. Juniata answered in the bottom-half of the frame, but only cut the lead to 4-1.
- In the fifth inning, with two runners on, Bell doubled to score another Mountie insurance marker and pushing their lead back up to four runs. The Eagles got the run back again, scoring on a wild pitch, in the bottom of the fifth, making the score 5-2, Mounties.
- Each team left two runners on base in the sixth inning and one runner on in the seventh, but nobody scored, giving the Mounties a 5-2 victory.

Into the Box Scores
- Over the 14 innings, Mount Aloysius used 10 different pitchers, with only three of them allowing a run. Evan Becquet (Ebensburg, Pa. / Bishop Carroll), Joey DeRubeis (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona), Quinn Fultz (McVeytown, Pa. / Mount Union), and Seth Smith (Mapleton Depot, Pa. / Mount Union), all went 2.0 innings, while the other six Mounties each tossed 1.0 inning a piece.
- Mount Aloysius picked up double-digit hits in both ends of the double-header, tallying 16 in Game One and 12 in Game Two. The 16 hits in Game One were their second highest total of the season, behind the 21 hits they had against Gettysburg, back on March 26. However, it was their highest hit total in a seven-inning contest, this season.

Up Next

Then, in the AMCC Tournament in Erie, the Mounties had to beat the Lions twice to win the AMCC Championship. They earned two victories, 10-4 and 10-5, both against the Lions, on Sunday and earned the NCAA tournament bid.
