CRESSON, Pa. -- On Thursday, as part of D3 Week, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) announced their annual Academic All-Conference Team. Mount Aloysius had 138 student-athletes named to the team.
Recognition on the Academic All-Conference team is given to a student-athlete who achieves a cumulative grade-point-average (GPA) or 3.2 or higher, as of the fall semester. The 138 Mountie student-athletes named to the team, represent 59.23% of student-athletes at Mount Aloysius. In 2022, Mount Aloysius won the AMCC Peak Performer Award for having the highest percentage of student-athletes named to the Academic All-Conference team.
In addition to being named Academic All-Conference, 98 Mounties were recognized as Individual Peak Performers. A student-athlete is designated as a Peak Performer when they achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. A special subset of the Peak Performers were also selected for induction to Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Collegiate Student-Athlete Honor Society. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes academic performance, leadership, and character for selected juniors and seniors. 20 Mounties were selected to be a part of Chi Alpha Sigma.
During D3 Week, the AMCC annually recognizes both Team Peak Performance Award Winners, in addition to the Academic All-Conference and Institutional Peak Performance Award. On Wednesday, the Baseball, Men's Golf, Men's Soccer, and Softball programs were all recognized as the AMCC Team Peak Performers, having the highest cumulative GPA in their respective sports. Men's Soccer picked up their fifth consecutive award, Men's Golf won their fourth consecutive, and Baseball was selected for the second straight year. The Softball program earned their program's first award this year. The four teams were the second-most to win their award from an individual school.
The AMCC is an intercollegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division III. Member institutions are located in New York and Pennsylvania. In addition to Mount Aloysius College, affiliated schools include: Alfred State College, Alfred, N.Y.; Hilbert College, Hamburg, N.Y.; La Roche University, Pittsburgh, Pa.;Â Penn State Altoona, Altoona, Pa.; Penn State Behrend, Erie, Pa.; University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, Bradford, Pa. and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, Greensburg, Pa.
