CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Lacrosse team won their second game of the season, beating Keystone, on Wednesday at Kelly Field. The Mounties scored a season-high, 15 goals, en route to the victory.
Leaders
-Â
Katie Figinski (Abingdon, Md. / Edgewood) led the Mounties with six goals and two assists, both of which were season-highs.
- DefenderÂ
Jordan Mason (Hagerstown, Md. / St. Maria Goretti) scored four goals, but also picked up three ground balls and caused six Giant turnovers.
-Â
Hanna Geissler (Irwin, Pa. /Â Norwin) tied a career-high in goals, with three, while adding an assist.
How It Happened
- The Mounties opened up the game with the first two goals, both coming on free-position shots. Mason scored the first and Figinski scored the second, just over a minute later. While Keystone added their own marker, Geissler scored her tenth goal of the season, with just 23 seconds remaining in the first quarter, giving the Mounties a 3-1 advantage.
- Mason added her second tally of the game, with 7:44 remaining in the first half, extending the Mountie lead to 4-1. Figinski and Geissler each added another goal over the rest of the quarter, sending the Mounties into the half, up 6-1.
- Figinski continued the Mounties' good fortune, scoring twice in the first two minutes of the third quarter and growing the lead to 8-1. Mason and each scored a goal before the next Giant marker, giving them a 10-1 advantage with 6:54 remaining in the period. Keystone would go on to score three of the final four goals of the period, as Figinski added another Mountie point and the game went to the final quarter, Mount Aloysius leading 11-4.
- To open the fourth quarter, the Giants scored the first two goals and prompted a Mountie timeout. The timeout seemed to work, as the Mounties scored four unanswered goals over the final 13-plus minutes of the contest, all by different players. Figinski, Geissler, and Mason each added another goal, whileÂ
Clara Larios-Soto (Laurel, Md. /Â Laurel) scored her first goal of the game. The Mounties held strong on defense, earning the 15-6 victory and not allowing another Giant goal.
