Gambier, Oh. -- On Saturday, September 16th, Mount Aloysius men's soccer traveled to Kenyon College to take on the Owls, who entered this season ranked #5 nationally.
Leaders
-
Louis Bez (Bordeaux, France, Lycée Sainte-Marie de la Bastide) and
Gonzalo Terricabris (Catalonia, Spain, Garbi Pere Verges) each recorded two shots on goal for the Mounties, with the latter putting in the only Mount Aloysius goal for the game.
- Goalkeeper
Luke Priestley (Edlesborough, England / Aylesbury Grammar School) recorded five saves for the Mounties.
How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius opened the game with a strong offensive effort, recording the first shot of the game within the opening minute.
- Two saves by Kenyon's goalie prevented the early Mountie lead, which opened up the opportunity for the Owls to put one in after 30 minutes of play, despite two quick Priestly saves.
- Although Mount Aloysius was able to battle back with some offensive pressure, they were unable to answer in the half, ending the first at 1-0 to the Owls.
- The second saw back and forth play throughout the first 15 minutes, until Terricabras was able to score for the Mounties in the 68th minute, assisted by
Juan Camacho (Ibaque, Colombia, San Bonifacio de las Lanzas).
- This goal seemed to trigger an offensive onslaught from the Owls, who recorded 7 shot attempts and a goal over the next 15 minutes, giving them the 2-1 lead which they maintained until the end of regulation.
Into the Box Score
- Despite leading in overall shot attempts by seven, Kenyon record just one more shot on goal than Mount Aloysius.
- The Mounties and the Owls were even in goalkeeper saves, each recording five.
