Greensburg, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius men's basketball lost an AMCC game to Pitt-Greensburg this Wednesday, January 17th.
Shooting and defensive struggles continue to plague the Mounties, who went down early to the Bobcats. Up 8 points after nine minutes of play, Pitt-Greensburg would preserve this lead for most of the game. The Mounties would struggle to score the ball, finding some success inside but shooting just 42% from the floor and 31% from three. Junior guard
Will Hagwood (Willowick, Ohio, South) would put together another strong performance across the box score, leading his team with 24 points to go along with 5 assists and 7 rebounds. Senior forward
Reggie Priah (Cleveland, Ohio, Euclid) would lead the Mounties in rebounds with 13, as his team would grab 12 more boards than the hosts.
Although the Bobcats would go up 14 after eight minutes of the second half, the Mounties would finally start putting together meaningful possessions, fighting back to take a 1-point lead in the final three minutes of the game behind strong transition play from Hagwood and junior forward
De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin). However, the Bobcats would hit a three on the next possession, and foul trouble would put Pitt-Greensburg back up 8 just a minute and a half later. The Mounties were unable to overcome this deficit, falling to the Bobcats 93-86. Mount Aloysius falls to 2-6 in the AMCC, while Pitt-Greensburg improves to 6-3.
Mountie men's basketball travels to Bradford to take on the Panthers this Saturday, January 20th. Pitt-Bradford enters the contest 10-6 overall and 6-3 in conference play, coming off an 87-80 win over Penn State Altoona. Mount Aloysius lost to the Panthers in their previous matchup this season.
