Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball Ends Weekend with Win

DALLAS, Pa. -- Over the weekend, the Mount Aloysius Women's Volleyball team traveled to Susquehanna and Misericordia, playing three different games in two days. They matched up with Susquehanna, on Friday, before finishing against Misericordia and Mount St. Mary, on Saturday. After dropping the first two contests, the Mounties picked up a win against Mount St. Mary, in the finale.

In Friday's matchup, the Mounties outplayed the Riverhawks (8-7) in the first set, jumping ahead with a 25-20 victory. Unfortunately, the Riverhawks rebounded to win the next three sets. Mount Aloysius did not score more than 17 points in any set the rest of the way. Susquehanna hit .252 for the game, and committed seven hitting errors in the final three sets after they committed seven in the first set alone. Mount Aloysius hit .096 for the game. Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler) and Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples) each had 13 kills, while Richards also supplied 18 digs.

Against Misericordia (14-4), to open play on Saturday, the Mounties started slow, falling 25-17 and 25-12 in the first two sets. They started to pick up the pace and had their best hitting set of the game, in the third set, on their way to a 25-22 victory. The Cougars ended the Mounties' hopes in the fourth set, up-ending the visitors, 25-22. Misericordia out-hit the Mounties in every set, except the third. They also tallied up 15 service aces and nine blocks, while the Mountis had six aces and four blocks. Barr had another 14 kills, to go with two aces and four blocks. Richards tallied 12 kills and 29 digs, while Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) dished out 18 assists.

Mount Aloysius found some success in their game against Mount St. Mary, with their best performance of the weekend. Despite dropping the second set, 34-32, they never let the Knights within reach, winning the first set 25-13 and the final two sets, 25-10 and 25-19. The Mounties hit .277 for the game, with a season-high of 64 kills. Mount St. Mary hit .094 for the game, in comparison. Richards again led the Mounties, with game-highs of 19 kills and 29 digs. Barr added 17 kills, while Wilson had career-highs of five aces and 33 assists. Maecy Tuskovich (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) also registered 15 digs in the victory.

The Mounties are set to open conference play, on Tuesday, when they travel to La Roche. Eight of their final nine games of the regular season will be against conference opponents. The Redhawks are coming off two wins, last weekend, against Penn State Harrisburg and Waynesburg. They will play Penn State Beaver on Monday night before hosting the Mounties. La Roche is currently 7-5 on the season.
