Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mounties Overrun by Gettysburg in Home Opener

CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team fell to the visiting Gettysburg Bullets this Tuesday, November 12th, in their first home game of the 2024-2025 season.

The Mounties would struggle defensively from tip off against Gettysburg's offensive efficiency, as the visitors would sustain 59% shooting from the floor while going eight of sixteen from deep in the first half. Focusing more on interior play, the Mounties would shoot fewer than half as many threes as the Bullets, with junior BJ Busbee (Cleveland, Ohio, Lutheran East) going three for three from behind the arc to offer the hosts some spacing. Senior De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin) would mainly operate inside for the Mounties, putting up 21 points and 7 rebounds to lead his team in both categories.

Gettysburg's efficiency would come back to earth after halftime, with the visitors holding 48% / 33% / 25% shooting splits across the second. Despite the Mounties maintaining solid 53% / 75% / 75% splits of their own across the half, the visitors would keep a twenty point separation from the hosts for the majority of the second. Cutting it down to fifteen points in the final minutes of action, the Mounties would ultimately fall to the Bullets 78-96. Mount Aloysius currently sits at 0-2 on the season.

The Mounties will take to their home court again this Saturday, November 16th, against Regent University. The Royals enter the contest 0-1 on the season, coming off a 78-79 loss to Colombia College (S.C.).
