CRESSON, Pa. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Volleyball team hosted Penn State Behrend in an AMCC contest. The Mounties (5-11, 0-3 AMCC) were out-hit in every set and fell to the visitors, 3-0.
Despite an opening set where the Mounties led, 16-15, Penn State Behrend took a 1-0 lead by scoring 10 of the last 14 points, including eight kills and an ace. Mount Aloysius continued to hold strong in the second set, as the Lions never stretched their lead to more than four points, but the Mounties could never quite get over the hump, falling 25-22. In the third and final set, the Mounties fell behind early and trailed for the remainder, dropping the set, 25-17, and thus the match.
Mount Aloysius was led byÂ
Andrew Wlodarczyk (East Aurora, N.Y. /Â East Aurora) with a team-high, 11 kills, and
Evan Schmidt (Loganville, Pa. / Dallastown Area), who led the team with 19 assists and a game-high, 10 digs.
Penn State Behrend hit .318 for the game, while the Mounties only hit .115. In the final set, Mount Aloysius hit .000 with eight kills and eight errors. The Lions also had eight blocks, compared to just one for the Mounties.
The Mounties will start a three-game road swing, on Thursday, when they travel to Wilson. The road stretch will span over break and the Mounties will return home on March 21 to host Chatham.
