Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Warriors Come Out To Play as Mounties Drop Home Opener

Cresson, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team fell to the Lycoming Warriors this Saturday, August 31st.

The Mountie's first home game of the season would begin with instant pressure as the hosts found themselves defending against continual Lycoming attacks. Although the Mounties were able to find a shot attempt in the first twenty minutes of action, the ball continued to stay around the home team's goal, with Lycoming picking up seven shot attempts in the opening twenty-five minutes of the game. Making good on their eighth attempt to open scoring, the Warriors would close the first half on a four-goal onslaught, with the Mounties managing just one more shot attempt as the half came to a close.

Heading into the second down 0-4, the Mounties sought to shore up their defensive efforts. Despite find some success catching the Warriors offsides, the Mounties again were sent reeling by a 67th minute conversion from the visitors. The Mounties would again find only two looks at the goal, failing to convert either shot attempt in the second half. As the game drew to an end, a final Lycoming shot with six minutes to play would be the final goal of the game, as the Mounties would fall to the Warriors 6-0.

Issues with possession and consistent attack would plague the Mounties, as Lycoming would earn 18 more shot attempts than the hosts across the ninety minutes of action. Junior forward Natalie Despot (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg) would earn two of the Mounties four shot attempts, including the team's only shot on goal.

The Mounties face a quick turn around, hosting Wilson College on Tuesday, September 3rd at 5:00pm. Wilson enters the contest 1-0, coming off a 1-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University.
