Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Mounties Vs. Phoenix Ends In Scoreless Tie

Cresson, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team played to a tie this Tuesday, September 3rd against the Wilson College Phoenix.

Although the game would end in an evenly contested stalemate, it was Wilson who came out aggressively, generating the first three shot attempts of the game inside the first fifteen minutes of action. Freshman goalkeeper McKenna Meadows (Lewisburg, PA, Lewisburg) would record all three of her saves for the game in the first half, ending the night with the first shut out of her career.

Although the first 30 minutes would see mostly Wilson attacks, the Mounties began to push forward as the first came to a close, earning three shots in the final six minutes of the half. With the final two sailing high of the crossbar, both teams headed into halftime scoreless, each carrying similar stat lines. Both teams would end the contest within one of each other in each statistical category, tallying remarkably similar shots, shots on goal, saves, corner kicks, and fouls.

The second half would be a slow march for both teams, as foul troubles seemed to break up any flow throughout the closing forty-five minutes. Still, the Mounties would find a handful of looks at the goal, including an 81st minute shot on goal, but failed to convert any of the attempts. The Mounties found great success defensively in the second, holding the Phoenix to just one second half shot attempt. Wilson's 89th minute prayer which would drift off left to end the contest 0-0, giving the Mounties their first tie of the season.

The Mountie women face their first back-to-back of the year, hosting the Bethany College Bison tomorrow, September 4th. Bethany enters the contest 1-0 on the season, coming off a 3-1 victory over Penn State Altoona.
