WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to the Waynesburg College Yellow Jackets this Saturday, Sept. 21.
Originally postponed two weeks due to Mountie illness and injury, the contest would see an even later start time due to weather, with kickoff finally coming after 9:00pm. The visitors would immediately find themselves backed into a corner, with Waynesburg earning five shot attempts in the first fifteen minutes. Although the Mounties were able to find a look early, the attempt would sail out left, and the Yellow Jackets would open up scoring with a 20th minute goal. The Mountie defense would hold strong for the rest of the first and slow the hosts' shooting pace, but the offense would fail to find the back of the net, maintaining a one goal separation heading into halftime.
The second half would go against the Mounties on both ends of the field. Earning just one shot attempt across the closing 45 minutes, the Mounties would face thirteen shot attempts from their opponents, with the hosts picking up three goals across an eight minute segment of play. While the hosts would not score again after the 69th minute, the damage was done, and the Mounties would end the late night contest in a 0-4 loss.
Mount Aloysius women's soccer travels to Maryland this Wednesday, Sept. 25, to take on Notre Dame of Maryland. The Gators enter the contest 1-4, coming off a 0-7 loss to Goucher College.
