BALTIMORE, M.d. -- The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team notched their first win of the season against the Notre Dame of Maryland Gators this Wednesday, Sept. 25.
The Mounties would put together a dominant 90 minutes of play. Junior
Jordan Bailey (Crofton, Md., South River) would open up scoring for the visitors in the 24th minute, with senior
Sarah Swingler (Hanover, PA, Delone Catholic) following close behind and scoring just six minutes later. The Mounties would tally 19 first half shots, while preventing their opponents from earning a single look across the opening 45 minutes.
The second would only further the Mounties' fortune, with senior
Grace O'Berry (Boonsboro, MD, Boonsboro) scoring less than a minute into the half. Not to be outdone, sophomore
Sara Borlie (Kennett Square, Pa., Unionville) would score three minutes later, before capping the night with a second goal in the 77th. The second half would be even more lopsided in shot attempts, as the visitors would tally 26 attempts to a single attempt from the hosts. The Mountie defense and freshman goalie
McKenna Meadows (Lewisburg, PA, Lewisburg) earned their second shut out of the season, while the team improves to 1-6-1 on the season.
The Mounties open up AMCC regular season play this Saturday, Sept. 28 at Alfred State. The Pioneers enter the contest 2-5-1, coming off a 0-1 loss to Houghton University.
