CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius men's volleyball program recorded a three-set loss to the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes (1-1, 0-0 PAC) this Tuesday, Jan 21. Freshman Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and senior Matthew Franz (Johnstown, Ohio, Bishop Hartley) would lead the Mounties in kills, each recording six. 

The Mounties faced trouble from the start, falling in to a 3-8 hole early in the first set. Despite a rally back to bring the score to 10-11, Geneva's presence up front would prove too daunting, as the visitors would win 14 of the next 16 points to take the first set 25-12. 

Looking to fight their way back in to the match, the Mounties would keep things close in the second until the 11-12 mark, when again Geneva would put together an aggressive run, winning six straight points to take a commanding lead. Despite a handful of kills set up by sophomore Evan Schmidt (Loganville, Pa. , Dallastown Area) for the hosts, the visitors would again roll their way to set win, taking the second 25-17.

The third set would prove reminiscent of the first two, with the Golden Tornadoes taking a 10-5 lead behind their front line. The Mounties would prove resilient in preventing a further run, but struggle to put together consistent offensive opportunities, ending the set and the match with a 15-25 loss in the third. 

The Mounties return to action on the road, facing Grove City this Saturday, Jan 25. Grove City enters the contest 0-4, coming off a 0-3 loss to Universidad de Puerto Rico - Río Piedras.
