Mounties Fall to PS Behrend in AMCC Playoffs

ERIE, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season on Saturday afternoon in the AMCC Tournament Semifinals, falling 4-0 to top-seeded Penn State Behrend at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa. Despite the result, the Mounties capped off a strong finish to the season, securing a playoff berth under first-year head coach Matt Jacobs.

The Mounties showed determination throughout the match, keeping several courts close before play was halted. In doubles action, the top pairing of Morgan Allen (Johnstown, Pa., Westmont Hilltop) and Caylie Conlon (New Paris, PA, Chestnut Ridge) held a 4-3 lead before their match went unfinished, while the pairings of Lauryn Kitchen (Clearfield, PA, Clearfield) and Julia Davis (Mount Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland), and Brooklyn Coppersmith (East Freedom, Pa., Central) and Amelia Miller (Scottdale, Pa., Southmoreland), fought hard against a talented and tough Behrend lineup.

In singles play, Allen led the way again at the No. 1 spot, battling to a second-set tiebreak to AMCC Player of the Year candidate (Tamanna Sharma) in one of the afternoon's most competitive matchups. Kitchen was also in the midst of a third set before play was stopped due to the clinching point. The Mounties' resilience and depth were evident throughout, showcasing the team's growth over the course of the season.

Following the match, junior Morgan Allen was recognized for her standout play and leadership by being named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team; a well-deserved honor to close out her first season as a Mountie.

Mount Aloysius concludes the 2025 campaign with a 4-8 record, establishing a solid foundation for continued success under Head Coach Matthew Jacobs.
