GETTYSBURG, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team showed strong effort and toughness but ultimately fell 89-64 on the road to a talented and physically imposing Gettysburg squad on Tuesday night at Bream Gymnasium.
Junior Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) turned in a stellar performance for the Mounties, pouring in a career-high 30 points on 10-16 shooting, including 4-6 from three-point range. Tinch also grabbed six rebounds, leading the Mounties in both scoring and boards.
Despite being outsized by a significant margin, the Mounties battled throughout against a Gettysburg team that reached the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament and recently lost by three to No. 2 nationally ranked Randolph-Macon. On Saturday, the Bullets led Randolph-Macon with under a minute left, but were unable top take down the top-ranked opponent.
Mount Aloysius hung tough early, keeping the game close midway through the first half before the Bullets' size and depth helped them build a 46-28 halftime lead.
Six-foot-seven forward Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian) provided a nice spark after returning to the game following a hard fall on his elbow, finishing with 13 points and five rebounds. Jenkins gave the Mounties an interior presence while being in foul trouble and limiting his minutes.
Ignacio Nascimento-Zschaeck (Barcelona, Spain, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (Mass.) added five points and three rebounds, while the Mounties found success in the paint, scoring 30 points inside.
