CRESSON, Pa. — Mount Aloysius pushed the AMCC Championship match to the limit Sunday afternoon but came up just short in a 3–2 loss at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center. The defeat ended what stands as the greatest season in program history—a year that included the most regular-season wins ever, the Mounties' first-ever AMCC regular-season title, and their first appearance in the conference championship match.

The Mounties fell by scores of 23–25, 25–20, 19–25, 25–17 and 12–15 in front of a crowd of 380. Mount Aloysius finished the season 20–8 overall and 7–1 in AMCC play.

Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) led the Mounties with 21 kills and a match-high 26 digs, while Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added 15 kills, two blocks, and an ace. Kaylee Smith (Altoona, Pa., Altoona) contributed nine kills and four blocks, and setters Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State) and Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt) combined for 47 assists to pace the attack. Defensively, Poliana Lazarini (Marialva, Brazil / Garrido) added 23 digs, and Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) chipped in 17.

Mount Aloysius posted 59 kills to the opposition's 62 and finished with a .181 hitting percentage. After dropping the opening set, the Mounties responded with their strongest offensive frame of the match in set two, hitting .250 to even the contest. They forced a deciding fifth set after dominating the fourth behind a .306 team hitting clip, but the comeback effort fell short.

Richards and Mackenzie Barr were both named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for their standout performances throughout championship weekend.

Despite the final result, the Mounties close the season as the program's new benchmark—regular-season champions, title-match qualifiers, and record-setters whose postseason run solidifies the team as one of the conference's rising contenders.
