CRESSON, Pa. — Despite a strong offensive showing from multiple starters, Mount Aloysius couldn't keep pace with a hot-shooting Carlow squad, falling 88–76 on Wednesday night at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.
The Mounties (1–6, 0–1 AMCC) traded leads with the Celtics 11 times and saw the score tied on seven occasions, but Carlow shot a blistering 56 percent from the field and knocked down 13 3-pointers to pull away in the second half.
Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) led Mount Aloysius with 17 points, while Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian ) and Donovan Bass-Briscoe (Alexandria, Va., Hayfield) each added 15. Jenkins grabbed seven rebounds, and Bass-Briscoe contributed four assists and three boards. Brandon Waters (Clear Brook, Va., James Wood) sparked the Mounties off the bench with nine points, all from deep.
Mount Aloysius trailed 41–34 at halftime but managed to cut the deficit several times before Carlow's perimeter shooting proved too much. The Mounties outscored the visitors 36–20 in the paint and posted 22 bench points, but foul trouble and a 5-for-23 performance from beyond the arc limited their ability to match Carlow's efficiency.
The game featured long stretches of back-and-forth play, but Carlow ultimately sealed it at the line, finishing 19-for-23 on free throws.
