Mounties Picked Second in Preseason Coaches' Poll; Quade Named Preseason Player of the Year

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. -- On Tuesday, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) released their annual Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll. The release also included both Preseason Pitcher and Player of the Year Awards. Mount Aloysius was selected to finish second in the poll, while Senior P/OF Tyler Quade (Mechanicsville, Md. / Chopticon) was named the Preseason Player of the Year.

The Mounties were picked second, behind Penn State Behrend, last season's AMCC Tournament Champions. The two teams were followed by Alfred State, who was picked third. In 2024, the Mounties finished in first place during the regular season with an 11-5 record, earning the first AMCC Regular Season Championship in program history.

Quade earned the Preseason Player of the Year honor, after he was named as the 2024 Player of the Year and Preseason Player of the Year. He was also named the 2022 Player of the Year, in addition to Pitcher of the Year. Quade is a two-time All-American, who hit .421 in 2024, with 17 doubles and 19 stolen bases. He also recorded a 4-2 record on the mound, with a 3.99 ERA and 65 strikeouts.

Mount Aloysius is set to open their season, next weekend, when they travel to William Paterson to take on the Pioneers on February 22. The matchup will be the first all-time meeting for the two programs.

Included in the Mounties' non-conference are traditional trips to Mary Baldwin (March 1-2) and Shenandoah (March 5), to open up the season with better weather. They are also scheduled to play at Saint Vincent on March 12, the last competition before heading to Myrtle Beach over Spring Break.

The Mounties have eight home dates to mark on the calendar. On March 22, they will host Gettysburg for a doubleheader to open up the home slate. Then on March 27, they will host Franciscan. In April, they will host Penn State Greater Allegheny and Westminster for single games, rounding out the non-conference competition. They will host conference foes, Hilbert (April 19), La Roche (April 15), Pitt-Bradford (April 26), and Pitt-Greensburg (April 9), all in doubleheaders.

Mount Aloysius will look to win both their second Regular Season AMCC Championship and second AMCC Tournament Championship, in 2025.
