LITTLE RIVER, S.C. -- The Mount Aloysius Softball team had a rare one-game day, on Wednesday, with a single matchup against Maine-Farmington. The Beavers dealt the Mounties a 4-0 loss on Tuesday. However, the Mounties returned the favor with a 4-0 victory of their own, in Wednesday's contest.
Mount Aloysius started quickly with
Sarah Henninger (DuBois, Pa. / DuBois)Â leading off the game with a single and
Whitney Cole (McDonald, Pa. / South Fayette)Â following with an RBI triple. Cole would score later in the frame and
Aisy Myers (Sidman, Pa. / Forest Hills)Â would drive home a run with an RBI single, giving the Mounties a 3-0 lead.
While the Mounties added an insurance run in the third inning, they also got a strong pitching performance in the circle.
Sierra Walters (East Freedom, Pa. / Claysburg-Kimmel)Â tossed a complete game and scattered just five hits to go with five strikeouts, keeping the Beavers off the board. Walters improved to 2-2 on the season, with the victory.
The Mounties are scheduled for two games, on Thursday. Their first game is against UMass-Boston and their second matchup is against SUNY Oswego. UMass-Boston is off to an 8-0 start, while SUNY Oswego is 4-4. Two of the losses for SUNY Oswego have be to UMass-Boston, earlier this week.
