Chambersburg, PA – The Mount Aloysius Mounties men's volleyball team (3-11, 0-1 AMCC) traveled on the road to face off against conference opponent Wilson College Phoenix (7-10, 1-0 AMCC). The Mounties entered this game looking to sweep the season series after defeating Wilson earlier this year 3-2.
The match was tightly contested throughout, with the teams going back and forth in each set. The final scores were (22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 8-15). Despite a hard-fought effort from the Mounties, they ultimately fell to the Phoenix after five sets.
Several players had strong performances in the match.
Matthew Franz (Johnstown, Ohio, Bishop Hartley) led the team with 17 kills, while setter
Evan Schmidt (Loganville, Pa. , Dallastown Area) recorded an impressive 47 assists.
Corey Obeldobel (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) contributed 14 digs, and
Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) tallied 5 blocks.
The Mounties' next games will take place on March 15th as they travel to Virginia Beach for spring break. They will face Virginia Wesleyan at 12:00 PM and Regent College at 4:00 PM.
