WESTMINSTER, Md. -- The Mount Aloysius women's tennis team would conclude their spring play with a 5-2 win over McDaniel College (4-8) this Sunday, Apr 14.

The Mounties would come out strong in doubles against the Green Terror, capturing the doubles point with a close 6-4 win at the top position, and a dominant 6-0 victory at the two spot. Heading into singles with the one point advantage, sophomore Lauryn Kitchen (Clearfield, PA, Clearfield) would secure the first singles win of the day for the Mounties, slicing her way to a 6-3 6-2 win at two singles. Southmoreland alums Julia Davis (Mount Pleasant, PA, Southmoreland ) and Amelia Miller (Scottdale, Pa., Southmoreland) would earn the overall victory for the Mounties, with Davis coming back in the third set tie break to grind out a tense 11-9 win at three singles while Miller would cruise to a 6-1 6-1 win at four singles.

The Mounties would not be done with match wins for the day, with freshman six singles Masie Reed (Shamokin, Pa., Our Lady of Lourdes) also finding herself in a close contest. After closing a tight first set 7-5, Reed would drop the second set in a tiebreak, forcing a deciding third set super tiebreak. Reed would put together a dominant tiebreak performance, going up 8-0 before closing the match with a 10-2 win in the third, giving the Mounties their fifth point of the day. 

The Mounties close a truncated spring schedule with two wins and two losses.
