CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Soccer program has both a new and familiar face to be their next head coach in Matt Davis, announced on Monday. The winningest coach in program history is set to return to the Mounties this spring, ahead of the 2025 season. Davis returns to Mount Aloysius following a three-year stint at Saint Vincent College.
"We are excited to welcome Coach Davis back to Mount Aloysius to be the next Men's Soccer Coach," said Athletic Director Kevin Kime. "It is a great opportunity any time you can bring a championship winning coach back to a place where they have had success. We are excited to see the program continue to grow under Coach Davis' leadership."
"I'm really happy to be back home at Mount Aloysius," said Davis. "The level of the program and expectations have risen further in the last five years with Coach Hutchinson at the helm, and I'm excited to work with our current team, alumni, and Mountie Soccer family as we continue to pursue excellence."
Davis previously spent five seasons at Mount Aloysius as the Head Men's and Women's Soccer Coach from 2014-18, carrying an overall record of 61-33-6Â while in charge of the Men's program. In 2015, he led the Mounties to their first AMCC Championship and NCAA tournament appearance. Davis followed that up by setting the program record with 16 wins during the 2017 season.
Prior to the 2019 season, Davis accepted a job as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Williams College, in Williamstown, Mass. While at Williams, the team made the NESCAC postseason twice. He spent three years with the Ephs before he was named the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Saint Vincent College in January of 2022.Â
Davis originally began his coaching career at Mount Aloysius as an assistant coach for both the Men's and Women's programs. He primarily spent time with the goalkeepers and oversaw the programs' recruiting efforts. During that time, he also received his master's degree from Mount Aloysius College.
Davis is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Albright College, where he earned bachelor's degrees in business administration and communication. He was a four-year member of the men's soccer team at Albright, serving as a team captain during both his junior and senior years. As a junior, he earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors and helped the Lions achieve their second-highest win total in the program's history.
He and his wife, Brooke, reside in Windber with their daughter, Charlotte, and son, Theo.
