Mount Aloysius College Baseball Coach Kime Passes Torch

| By:
CRESSON, Pa. -- Mountie head baseball coach Kevin Kime has made the difficult decision to pass the torch after nearly 20 years at the program's helm. Longtime assistant coach and Mount graduate Patrick Gully has been named the new head coach.

Kime first took the team's reins in 2006. Since then, Kime has captured the record for the most wins of any coach in Mount Aloysius history at 378, coached 11 seasons with 20+ wins, five seasons with 25+ wins, and saw the Mounties to their first-ever NCAA tournament bid and win in 2022. Kime is a four-time AMCC Coach of the Year, receiving the award in 2009, 2019, 2022, and most recently in 2024.

Kime's decision did not come lightly. He was recently promoted to Vice President for Athletics and Community Outreach, and stepping back from coaching means more time for his new responsibilities, as well as a more predictable schedule for his young family.

"This was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made," said Kime. "Coaching at the Mount has been a true honor, but this new opportunity at the College allows me to grow professionally and enhance the Mount for all future students. My family has sacrificed a lot for me in my time coaching, and now it's time for me to step up for them. I'm incredibly proud of what we've built here and grateful for every player, parent, and supporter who's been part of our journey."

"Kevin has been the cornerstone of the baseball team for many years, and his impact on our student-athletes is immeasurable," said John McKeegan, President of Mount Aloysius College. "While we will miss his leadership on the field, I fully support his decision to embrace this new chapter—both personally and professionally. I'm proud of the legacy he is leaving, and even more proud to continue to work alongside him in elevating the Mount in his new role."

Since 2017, Coach Kime has had help shaping the Mount's baseball program into the championship-caliber team it is today. Assistant Coach Patrick Gully has spent eight years on Kime's coaching staff, and as a Mountie alum, played four years as a starting catcher with Kime as head coach.

"This decision would be even more difficult for me if I didn't have so much trust in Coach Gully," said Kime. "He is a proven winner, an effective coach, and a good friend. The future of the Mount's baseball program is as bright as ever."

"It's bittersweet," said Gully, "but I am ready to continue this program's rich history and honor Coach Kime's legacy in the best way possible - by enhancing the lives of our student-athletes and competing at the highest level."

Under Kime and Gully's watch, the Mount baseball team received votes for the "NCAA D3 Top 25" two separate times, presented four All-American players, and saw one Mountie player go professional.

In his new role, Kime will remain at the helm of Mountie Athletics. Former Mount baseball players will be invited to an event honoring Kime during Homecoming Weekend, September 26-28, 2025.
