CRESSON, Pa. — Volleyball stayed hot on Thursday night, cruising past Wilson in straight sets (25-8, 25-14, 25-12) inside the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center (ACWC). The victory pushes the Mounties to 9-3 overall and extends their winning streak to eight matches.
The Mounties controlled the match from the opening serve, hitting .368 as a team while holding Wilson to a .000 hitting percentage. Mount Aloysius tallied 43 kills compared to just 13 for the Phoenix.
Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) continued her stellar senior season as she led the way offensively, finishing with a match-high 18 kills to go along with eight digs. Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added eight kills, two blocks, and 4 digs in a strong all-around performance, while Poliana Lazarini (Marialva, Brazil / Garrido) chipped in five kills. Setters Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt) paced the attack with 20 assists, and Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State) contributed 15 helpers and two service aces.
Defensively, the Mounties were steady, recording 56 digs to Wilson's 27. Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) held down the back row with 15 digs, while Emma Middleton (Marietta, Ohio, Marietta) added five.
