Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Mounties Wear Down Lions

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Mounties women's volleyball picked up a convincing 3-0 sweep over Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday night inside the Capital Union Building. The Mounties earned set wins of 25-22, 25-23, and 25-17.

Set 1: The Mounties set the tone early with a gritty first set. Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) and Poliana Lazarini (Marialva, Brazil / Garrido) powered the offense with timely kills, while Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) chipped in with an ace and steady play at the net. The Lions pushed the frame deep, but Mount Aloysius closed on a run highlighted by Richards and Lazarini to secure a 25-22 win.

Set 2: The second set proved to be the night's most dramatic. Both teams traded points throughout, but the Mounties showed composure in the clutch moments down the stretch. Mack Barr's kills and Reghyn Wilson's (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt) setting kept the Mounties within striking distance, and Richards came through once again late, helping the Mounties edge Harrisburg 25-22 in another tight finish.

Set 3: With momentum on their side, the Mounties dominated the third set. Richards continued her offensive surge, backed by Lazarini, Barr, and Kaylee Smith, who all contributed at the net. Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State) added an ace to spark the run, and Mount Aloysius quickly built a comfortable lead. The Lions had no answer for the balanced Mountie attack, and Richards delivered the finishing blow to close out a 25-17 victory.
