CRESSON, Pa. — Mount Aloysius used a strong second-half surge to pull away for a 90-66 victory Monday afternoon at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.

The Mounties led 37-33 at halftime before opening the second half with increased defensive pressure and an efficient offensive stretch, outscoring their opponent 53-33 over the final 20 minutes. Mount Aloysius shot 48 percent from the field in the second half and converted 16 free throws to maintain control throughout.

Donovan Bass-Briscoe (Alexandria, Va., Hayfield) paced Mount Aloysius with 18 points while adding six assists and five steals. Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian ) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) added 14 points as the Mounties placed four players in double figures.

Mount Aloysius finished the game shooting 47.8 percent from the field and held a 45-38 rebounding advantage. The Mounties also capitalized on turnovers, scoring 19 points off 19 forced turnovers, and held a 22-13 edge in fast-break points.

The visitors kept the game close in the opening half, matching Mount Aloysius basket for basket and shooting over 41 percent from beyond the arc before the break. However, they were held without a made three-pointer in the second half, allowing the Mounties to steadily extend the lead.

Mount Aloysius improved to 2-14 overall and 1-7 in conference play with the win.
