Mounties Get Even With Pitt-Greensburg in Sweep

CRESSON, Pa. - Women's volleyball delivered a statement victory on Tuesday night, sweeping Pitt-Greensburg 3-0 inside the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center to avenge an earlier-season loss to the Bobcats. The Mounties earned the victory by scores of 25-14, 28-26 and 25-16, improving to 12-7 overall and 5-4 in AMCC play.

The Mount set the tone early, dominating the opening set 25-14 before battling through a very tightly contested second set. The Mounties held off the Bobcats in a back-and-forth battle, pulling out a 28-26 victory to take a commanding 2-0 lead. Mount Aloysius then closed out the sweep with a strong third set, earning a 25-16 win to secure the straight-set victory.

Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) led the Mounties' offensive attack with a match-high 17 kills, hitting an impressive .412 while adding five total blocks. Barr accounted for 21 points in the victory and continued her push toward the 1,000-kill milestone for her career. Loren Stipanovich (Cresson, Pa, Penn Cambria) added eight kills, while Ava Patton (Bellwood, Pa, Bellwood-Antis) contributed three kills on a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage.

Mountie setters Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State) and Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt) are back in full effect, recording 19 and 14 assists, respectively. Cummings also delivered a match-high four service aces, while Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) led the defensive effort with 14 digs and added two aces. Maya McIlwain (Rural Valley, Pa, West Shamokin) chipped in nine digs as Mount Aloysius matched Pitt-Greensburg with 44 digs.

The Mounties controlled the match at the net, finishing with 40 kills to the Bobcats' 25 while hitting .265 as a team. Mount Aloysius also held a 7-2 advantage in total blocks and recorded 35 assists, as they continue to stay consistent on both sides of the ball.

Mount Aloysius will look to carry that momentum into another important AMCC matchup on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the Mounties host Pitt-Bradford (7-11, 6-3 AMCC) inside the ACWC. With just five regular-season matches remaining, Saturday's contest presents a crucial opportunity for the Mounties to strengthen their conference position. Mount Aloysius defeated the Panthers 3-2 earlier this season, and Barr will look to reach 1,000 career kills in front of the home crowd as the Mounties prepare for another pivotal conference battle.
