Women's Soccer Falls to Penn State Altoona in AMCC First Round, Conclude 2026 Season

Box Score

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team saw its 2026 campaign come to an end on Saturday afternoon, falling to third-seeded Penn State Altoona, 4-0, in the opening round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament at Spring Run Stadium.

The sixth-seeded Mounties entered the postseason looking to extend their season, but an early offensive surge from the Lions proved too much to overcome. Penn State Altoona scored three times in the opening half before adding another goal after halftime to secure the victory and advance to the AMCC semifinals.

Penn State Altoona opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Kira Trexler found the back of the net off an assist from Grace Turner, giving the Lions an early 1-0 advantage. The hosts doubled their lead less than eight minutes later, as Bridget Martin scored her first goal of the season in the 21st minute, with Julia Jin and Chloe LaRosa providing the assists.

The Mounties looked to settle into the contest offensively, but Penn State Altoona continued to apply pressure throughout the opening 45 minutes. The Lions extended their advantage to 3-0 in the 41st minute when Kaelynn Taylor converted a scoring opportunity off a feed from Trexler, sending Mount Aloysius into the halftime break facing a three-goal deficit.

Mount Aloysius continued battling in the second half, looking to generate opportunities and cut into the Lions' lead. However, Penn State Altoona added its fourth and final goal in the 60th minute when LaRosa scored her sixth goal of the season, assisted by Audrey Hagood.

Offensively, the Mounties registered seven shots throughout the contest, with three finding their way on target. Kaylee Dowdell (Windber, PA, Windber) and Victoria Haroldson (Sharpsville, Pa., Sharpsville) each recorded a shot on goal, while the Mounties were also credited with a team shot on target. Abigail Solano (Spencerport, N.Y., Spencerport), Paiton Campbell (Roaring Spring, Pa., Central), Abby Bell (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg), and Brooklyn Galinis (Hastings, Pa., Cambria Heights) each contributed a shot in the season-ending effort.

Defensively, Katie Scott (Mineral Point, Pa. , Central Cambria) played all 90 minutes between the posts for Mount Aloysius, recording five saves against a Penn State Altoona attack that finished with 14 total shots, including nine on goal. Scott and the Mountie defense continued competing throughout the afternoon despite the Lions' offensive pressure.

With the loss, Mount Aloysius concludes its 2026 season with an overall record of 2-13-2, including a 2-4-1 mark in AMCC play. Penn State Altoona improves to 8-8 overall and advances to the conference semifinals.

The conclusion of the season also marks the end of head coach Tyler Sisler's second year leading the Mount Aloysius women's soccer program. Despite the challenges faced throughout the fall, Sisler has now guided the Mounties to AMCC Tournament appearances in each of his first two seasons at the helm.

After finishing 5-8-4 and earning a postseason berth in 2025, the Mounties returned to the conference tournament in 2026, continuing their streak of postseason appearances under Sisler. With two consecutive playoff berths to begin his tenure, Sisler and the Mounties will look to build upon that postseason experience as they turn their attention toward the 2027 campaign.
