CRESSON, Pa. – The Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball team closed out the 2026 regular season in impressive fashion on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Carlow University Celtics in straight sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-12) inside the Athletic Convocation and Wellness Center (ACWC). The victory made for a memorable Senior Day celebration, as the Mounties honored their seniors and upcoming graduates while securing the No. 4 seed and a home playoff match in the upcoming Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament.
Prior to the match, Mount Aloysius recognized six individuals for their dedication and contributions to the women's volleyball program. Senior sisters Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) senior Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt), and senior student assistant coach Corey Obeldobel (Aliquippa, Pa., Hopewell) were honored alongside sophomores Paige Logsdon (Wellsboro, Pa, Wellsboro) and Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State), who are both set to graduate early. The afternoon served as an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments both on and off the court, as the Mounties looked to send their graduating class out with one final regular-season victory on their home floor.
With plenty to play for, Mount Aloysius came out determined to make the afternoon a successful one. The Mounties established control early in the opening set, using strong defensive play and consistent pressure from the service line to keep the Celtics on their heels. Mount Aloysius limited Carlow to a negative hitting percentage in the opening frame while taking advantage of the Celtics' offensive struggles. The Mounties comfortably claimed the first set, 25-13, to take an early 1-0 advantage.
The second set proved to be the closest of the afternoon, but Mount Aloysius remained composed and continued to execute when it mattered most. The Mounties relied on their defensive presence at the net and aggressive serving to maintain the upper hand, eventually pulling away for a 25-18 victory to move within one set of the sweep.
With the opportunity to close out the regular season on a high note, Mount Aloysius delivered another strong performance in the third set. The Mounties posted their best hitting percentage of the afternoon at .158 while limiting Carlow to a -.120 mark. Mount Aloysius controlled the final frame from start to finish, cruising to a 25-12 victory to complete the three-set sweep and send its graduating class out with a win.
One of the biggest differences in the contest came from the service line, where Mount Aloysius recorded an impressive 17 service aces compared to just three for Carlow. Wilson and Cummings led the charge, each recording six aces to account for 12 of the team's 17. Wilson also dished out a team-high nine assists, while Cummings contributed seven assists and six digs in a strong all-around performance.
Mackenzie Barr made her presence felt in her final regular-season home match, finishing with five kills, two service aces (including her 100th career ace), two block assists, and two digs. Her sister, Madison, continued to provide a steady defensive presence for the Mounties, recording a team-high nine digs while adding a service ace and an assist.
Offensively, Sarah Iman (Purgitsville, W.V., Moorefield) delivered an outstanding performance, leading Mount Aloysius with seven kills on just nine attempts without committing an attacking error. Her remarkable .778 hitting percentage was the highest on the team, as she also contributed two block assists. Kyler Freeman (Lucinda, Pa., North Clarion) added three kills on six attempts for a .500 hitting percentage, while Jada McGill (Fishertown, Pa, Chestnut Ridge) chipped in two kills.
Defensively, the Mounties were equally impressive at the net, recording seven total team blocks compared to just one for Carlow. Kelsey Dye (Newport, Ohio, Frontier) led the way with four block contributions, including one solo block and three block assists. Mackenzie Barr and Iman each added two block assists, helping Mount Aloysius limit the Celtics to a -.024 hitting percentage for the match.
The Mounties also received contributions throughout their lineup, with 16 players seeing action during the three-set victory. The balanced effort allowed Mount Aloysius to finish the regular season on a positive note while building momentum heading into postseason competition.
With the victory, Mount Aloysius concludes the 2026 regular season with an overall record of 13-11, including a 6-8 mark in AMCC play. More importantly, the Mounties secured the No. 4 seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament, earning the opportunity to host a first-round playoff match inside the ACWC.
Mount Aloysius will welcome No. 5 seed La Roche University to Cresson on Tuesday, November 10, for the opening round of the conference tournament. The Mounties enter the postseason with confidence against the Redhawks, having won both regular-season meetings between the two programs, including a pair of 3-1 victories. Mount Aloysius will look to make it three consecutive wins over La Roche as the team begins its pursuit of an AMCC Championship.
The winner of Tuesday's first-round matchup will advance to the AMCC semifinals to take on the No. 1 seed and host, Penn State Altoona, which, along with the championship match, will be played on Altoona's home court. With the regular season now behind them, the Mounties will turn their attention to postseason play, looking to build on Saturday's Senior Day sweep and make another run through the conference tournament.
