CRESSON, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius Mounties showed resilience and growth Wednesday night, battling through adversity in a three-set nonconference match at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.
After dropping the opening set, the Mounties responded with a strong showing in the second, tightening their defense and generating more consistent offensive production. Mount Aloysius pushed the frame late behind improved ball control and extended rallies before falling 25-22. The Mounties continued to compete in the third set, cutting down on errors and producing their most balanced offensive stretch of the night.
Bryson Brooks (Martinsburg, Pa., Central) led Mount Aloysius with five kills, while Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) added four kills and seven digs in a steady all-around performance. Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) anchored the defense with five total blocks and three kills. Connor O'Mealia (Rochester, N.Y., Churchville) directed the offense with 11 assists and added four digs.
As the match progressed, the Mounties showed measurable improvement offensively, recording nine kills over the final set while continuing to establish their presence at the net with nine team blocks overall.
Mount Aloysius will look to build on its late-match momentum as they host home games on Saturday and Sunday.
