PITTSBURGH, Pa --The Mount Aloysius College men's basketball team dropped a tightly contested 77-75 decision to Carlow on Tuesday night.
Mount Aloysius (4-20, 2-13 AMCC) led by as many as 12 points in the second half, but a late push by the hosts proved to be the difference in a game that featured nine lead changes and seven ties. The Mounties trailed 41-40 at halftime before regaining control early in the final 20 minutes.
Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) led four Mounties in double figures with 21 points, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field and 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Donovan Bass-Briscoe (Alexandria, Va., Hayfield) added 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists in 40 minutes, while Semaje Howard (Chicago, Illinois, Lincoln Park) finished with 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian ) recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds as Mount Aloysius outrebounded the hosts 37-32 and scored 36 points in the paint.
The Mounties shot 48.2% (27-for-56) from the floor and converted 15-of-19 free throws, including 10-of-12 in the second half. However, 17 points allowed off turnovers and timely 3-point shooting down the stretch by the opposition sealed the narrow setback.
Mount Aloysius will return to action for the last game of the regular season this Saturday as they host Penn State Behrend at 4 PM. This game also marking Senior Day for the Mounties.
