Mountie Volleyball Drops Doubleheader at Stevenson Athletic Center

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. — The Mount Aloysius men's volleyball team competed in a doubleheader Saturday at the Stevenson Athletic Center, falling to Wilkes and Bard but showing flashes of strong play and competitiveness throughout both matches.

Game 1 – vs. Wilkes

Mount Aloysius battled Wilkes in a four-set match, ultimately falling 3-1. The Mounties kept the first set close, losing 25-20, and dropped the second by the same margin. Showing resilience, Mount Aloysius rallied in the third set, winning 25-23 behind balanced attacking and key defensive plays at the net. Wilkes regained control in the fourth set, closing out the match 25-16.

Brady Diegelman (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler Area) led Mount Aloysius offensively with nine kills, adding eight digs to anchor the back row. Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and Bryson Brooks (Martinsburg, Pa., Central) contributed key kills, while Connor O'Mealia (Rochester, N.Y., Churchville) ran the offense effectively with 22 assists. The Mounties totaled 26 kills, 22 errors, and 95 attack attempts. Mount Aloysius also recorded several timely blocks and digs that kept the match competitive in each set.

Game 2 – vs. Bard

In the second match, Mount Aloysius fell in straight sets, 25-20, 25-17, 25-22, but challenged the visitors in every set. The Mounties held close in the opening set, trailing by just a few points late, and continued to battle in the second set before Bard pulled ahead. The third set featured Mount Aloysius' most sustained rally, keeping the score tight before the visitors closed out the set and match.

Brady Diegelman again paced the Mounties with 11 kills, and Bryson Brooks and Zach Rosenwald added steady offensive production. Connor O'Mealia recorded 24 assists, orchestrating the Mounties' attack and creating opportunities for outside hitters. Mount Aloysius finished the match with 28 kills, 15 errors, 76 attack attempts, 31 digs, and 11 blocks.

Looking Ahead...

Mount Aloysius drops to 1-18 overall and 1-2 in AMCC play. Despite the two defeats, the Mounties displayed competitive energy, strong fundamentals, and teamwork in both matches, giving the program momentum to build on in the remainder of the season.
