Mounties’ Freshmen Stout and Bassett Earn AMCC Player of the Week Honors

Cresson, Pa. - February 23, 2026 - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, men's volleyball and baseball, and women's lacrosse for the period running from February 16-22, 2026.

The Mount Aloysius women's lacrosse program earned major recognition from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference this week, as freshmen Chelsea Stout (Grand Blanc, Mich., Grand Blanc) and Courtney Bassett (Mehoopany, Pa, Tunkhannock) were named AMCC Players of the Week after making immediate impacts in the Mounties' season opener.

Stout, a Grand Blanc, Michigan native, powered the Mounties to their first win of the 2026 season with a standout offensive performance. The freshman led the team with five goals and added an assist in the 15-4 victory over Geneva, setting the tone early and showcasing her scoring ability.

Bassett, from Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, was equally dominant on the defensive end. In her collegiate debut, she anchored the Mounties' defense, finishing with eight ground balls and four caused turnovers. Her effort helped control possession and limited Geneva's scoring chances throughout the contest.

The Mounties (1-0) head to Greenville, Pa on Thursday for a matchup with the Thiel Tomcats (0-2). The Mounties and Tomcats played each other last season, with the Tomcats defeating the Mounties by the score of 17-5.
