PITTSBURGH, Pa — Mount Aloysius delivered an efficient offensive performance and stayed within striking distance early, but a hot-shooting night from the home team proved decisive in a 94–75 setback Wednesday night at the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center.
The Mounties shot an impressive 58 percent from the field in the first half and poured in 45 points, keeping pace in a fast-moving opening 20 minutes. Mount Aloysius consistently attacked the paint and finished the night with 50 points inside, but trailed 49–45 at the break after the hosts closed the half with a late push.
Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian ) led Mount Aloysius with 17 points and 11 rebounds, recording a double-double while controlling the glass. Semaje Howard (Chicago, Illinois, Lincoln Park) followed with 16 points on 8-of-15 shooting, and Donovan Bass-Briscoe (Alexandria, Va., Hayfield) added 13 points and five rebounds as the Mounties placed three players in double figures.
Mount Aloysius continued to compete in the second half, but the home team built separation behind efficient shooting and timely perimeter scoring. Despite shooting better than 50 percent for the game, the Mounties were unable to close the gap as the margin stretched in the final minutes.
Ignacio Nascimento-Zschaeck (Barcelona, Spain, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (Mass.)) provided a spark off the bench with 12 points, while the Mounties' reserves combined for 27 points. Mount Aloysius finished the night shooting 51.7 percent from the field and won second-chance opportunities, but was outpaced by a high-percentage shooting performance on the other end.
The Mounties dropped to 2–18 overall and 0–11 in AMCC play and will look to build on their offensive efficiency as conference action continues.
