CRESSON, Pa. — Mount Aloysius put together its strongest stretch after halftime, but an early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Mounties fell 64–55 on Wednesday night at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.
After being held to six points in the opening quarter, Mount Aloysius responded with a sharp third period, outscoring the visitors 20–19 to cut into the margin and bring energy back into the building. The Mounties continued to battle in the fourth quarter, matching pace down the stretch, but could not fully erase the early gap.
Molly Kosmack (Homer City, Pa., Homer-Center) led Mount Aloysius with 15 points while anchoring the interior with a game-high 15 rebounds. She also added six assists and seven blocks in an all-around performance that kept the Mounties within striking distance. Brionna Brown (Cranberry Township, Pa., Seneca Valley) provided a major spark off the bench, finishing with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, including three 3-pointers.
Annalyn Isaacs (Harmony, Pa., Mars) chipped in 10 points, knocking down a pair of shots from beyond the arc, as Mount Aloysius shot 38.3 percent from the field and continued to find rhythm as the game progressed. The Mounties also held a 41–33 rebounding advantage and received 24 points from their bench.
Mount Aloysius outscored its opponent 35–31 in the second half and shot better than 50 percent in the third quarter, but the visitors' success at the free-throw line helped maintain separation late.
The Mounties moved to 8–12 overall and 6–5 in AMCC play and will look to carry their second-half momentum into their next conference matchup.
