Mounties Hold Off Alfred State in 92–89 AMCC Thriller

Cresson, Pa -- The Mount Aloysius Mounties earned a thrilling 92–89 victory over Alfred State on Saturday afternoon in front of a lively home crowd at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center, snapping through in a back-and-forth AMCC battle that featured 11 lead changes.

The game was tight from the opening tip, with both teams locked at 41 apiece at halftime. Mount Aloysius set the tone early with balanced scoring and strong interior play, then turned up the pressure in the second half, shooting an impressive 60 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes to seize control when it mattered most.

Donovan Bass-Briscoe (Alexandria, Va., Hayfield) delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 27 points on an ultra-efficient 11-of-14 shooting while adding six assists and nine rebounds. Troy Tinch (Baltimore, Md., Calvert Hall) followed with 17 points and steady defense, while Semaje Howard (Chicago, Illinois, Lincoln Park) chipped in 14 points and Senique Jenkins (Columbus, Ohio, Imani Christian ) controlled the paint with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds to anchor the Mounties on both ends.

Mount Aloysius capitalized on its strength inside, outscoring Alfred State 48–38 in the paint and pushing the tempo for 21 fast-break points. The Mounties also received key contributions off the bench, as D'Myah Carr (Johnstown, Pa., Greater Johnstown) knocked down three triples on his way to 12 points, and Ignacio Nascimento-Zschaeck (Barcelona, Spain, Springfield Commonwealth Academy (Mass.)) added nine points while providing energy on the glass.

Down the stretch, the Mounties stayed composed, executing offensively and getting timely stops to hold off a late push. Mount Aloysius finished the afternoon shooting 51.4 percent from the field and showed resilience in closing out a hard-earned conference win.

The Mounties will look to build on the momentum as they continue AMCC play, carrying confidence from a complete team performance on their home floor.
