Game One
The Mount Aloysius men's volleyball team opened Saturday's doubleheader with a three-set setback at the College Arena, falling 25-18, 25-17, 25-17.
The Mounties generated consistent offense throughout the match, finishing with 33 total kills and improving their attacking efficiency in the second set. Zach Rosenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) led the Mount Aloysius attack with a team-high 12 kills, while Brady Diegelman (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler Area) added nine kills to support the offense.
Set one featured early back-and-forth play before a late run by the opposition created separation. Mount Aloysius responded with its most efficient offensive set in the second, as Rosenwald and Diegelman found rhythm at the net. The Mounties continued to battle in the third set, staying within reach before the match concluded in straight sets.
Connor O'Mealia (Rochester, N.Y., Churchville) paced the offense with 28 assists and added four digs defensively. Jason Freed (East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora) contributed on both sides of the ball, finishing with five digs and a block, while Evan Sigel (Bedford, Pa., Bedford) added an assist as the Mounties worked to spread the offense.
Game Two
In the second match of the doubleheader, Mount Aloysius closed the day with another three-set contest, dropping the match 25-10, 25-14, 25-23.
The Mounties showed resilience throughout the match and saved their strongest effort for the final set. After trailing early, Mount Aloysius surged late in set three behind improved offensive execution and defensive play, cutting the deficit to two points before the set was decided.
Zach Rosenwald once again led the Mounties with nine kills and added eight digs to anchor the back row. Brady Diegelman followed closely with eight kills and eight digs, while Freed contributed three kills and a block at the net.
Connor O'Mealia directed the offense with 22 assists and added a block, while Bryson Brooks (Martinsburg, Pa., Central) made an impact across multiple areas with a service ace, an assist, and six digs. The Mounties totaled four service aces in the match and recorded 28 digs as a team.
