Mounties Pile up Hits Across Doubleheader, Fall in Two Close Contests

CRESSON, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius Mounties produced 27 hits across two games Sunday, showcasing a potent offensive attack, but fell short in both ends of a doubleheader against Pitt.-Bradford.

Game 1

Mount Aloysius matched Pitt.-Bradford with 13 hits but dropped the opener 9-5.

The Mounties took an early lead in the second inning, scoring twice on productive at-bats and timely hitting. Mount Aloysius maintained pressure throughout the game, consistently putting runners on base.

Greysyn Gable (Kylertown, Pa., West Branch Area HS) led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Isabela Marquez (Greensburg, Pa., Greensburg Central Catholic) continued her strong day at the plate with three hits. Alysha Cutri (Imperial, Pa., Bishop Canevin) added a three-hit performance of her own as the Mounties spread production throughout the lineup.

Trailing 7-2, Mount Aloysius mounted a three-run rally in the sixth inning, highlighted by RBI singles and a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 7-5. The visitors answered with two runs in the seventh to pull away.

Despite the loss, the Mounties did not commit an error and showed balance offensively, recording 12 hits and multiple multi-hit efforts.

Game 2

The Mounties continued their offensive surge in Game 2 but fell 10-6 despite outhitting Pitt.-Bradford 15-13.

Mount Aloysius jumped out early, scoring in the first inning before adding two more runs in the third to take a 3-1 lead.

Isabela Marquez stayed hot at the plate, going 3-for-4, while Aislinn Myers (Sidman, Pa., Forest Hills) drove in three runs on a two-hit performance. Hanna Stedman (Washington, Pa., Trinity) and Morgan Hassen (Northern Cambria, Pa., Northern Cambria) each added two hits, contributing to the Mounties' 15-hit output.

The game turned in the fourth inning when Pitt.-Bradford capitalized on defensive miscues to score five runs, four of them unearned, to take the lead.

Mount Aloysius responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning to stay within striking distance and later added another run in the seventh. However, the Mounties were unable to fully close the gap.

Across the doubleheader, Mount Aloysius consistently generated offense with multiple players contributing, highlighted by Marquez's six total hits and several multi-hit performances throughout the lineup.
