CRESSON, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius Mounties received a strong offensive effort from Cassidy Cook (Glen Burnie, Md., North County), but visiting Marietta Pioneers pulled away for a 17–4 victory Saturday.

Marietta built an early advantage with four goals in the opening quarter and extended its lead with a four-goal stretch in the second. The visitors continued to control possession after halftime, adding four goals in the third period and five more in the fourth.
Despite the result, Mount Aloysius found success defensively in stretches. The Mounties forced nine caused turnovers and collected 18 ground balls, including four by Shelby Smeal (Altoona, Pa., Altoona) and three by Maggie Cason (Spotsylvania, Va., Riverbend). Sara Borlie (Kennett Square, Pa., Unionville) also contributed on the defensive end with five caused turnovers.
Marietta held advantages in several key statistical categories, including shots (32–9) and draw controls (16–4), helping the visitors maintain consistent offensive pressure. Both teams were efficient in clearing the ball, with Marietta going 11-for-11 and Mount Aloysius finishing 10-for-10.
Mount Aloysius also capitalized on its lone free-position opportunity, with Cook converting to give the Mounties a perfect 1-for-1 mark.
The Mounties will look to build on Cook's offensive performance as they continue their season in upcoming action. 🥍
