Box Score ALFRED, N.Y. — The Mount Aloysius women's lacrosse team dropped an AMCC matchup to Alfred State, 13-3, on Saturday afternoon in its regular season finale.
Alfred State set the tone early, building a 5-0 lead in the opening quarter before the Mounties got on the board late. Cassidy Cook (Glen Burnie, Md., North County) found the back of the net in the final seconds of the first to cut the deficit to 5-1 heading into the second.
The Pioneers continued to control the pace in the second quarter, adding five more goals to extend their lead to 10-1 at halftime. Mount Aloysius battled defensively but was unable to slow the offensive surge.
After a scoreless third quarter for the Mounties, Cook struck again early in the fourth off an assist from Sara Borlie (Kennett Square, Pa., Unionville) to make it 12-2. Alfred State answered shortly after, but the Mounties closed out the scoring with a late goal from Brenna Dobson (Lewistown, Pa., Mifflin County), assisted by Borlie.
Cook led the Mounties with two goals on the day, while Dobson added one. Borlie contributed a pair of assists to pace the offense.
Mount Aloysius concludes the regular season with a 4-7 overall record and 2-2 mark in AMCC play. The Mounties will enter the AMCC Playoffs as the No. 3 seed and travel to face No. 2 seed Pitt-Bradford on Tuesday, April 21.
