CRESSON, Pa. — Expectations are high for the Mount Aloysius College men's soccer team as the Mounties prepare to open the 2026 season, with the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) projecting Mount Aloysius to finish second in its preseason poll, just behind Penn State Behrend.
The Mounties enter the season looking to build off a successful 2025 campaign that saw them finish 12-6-3 and make an appearance in the AMCC Championship in head coach Matt Davis's first season back at the helm of the program.
Leading the way defensively is senior Martin Donner (Stockholm, Sweden, Danderyds Gymnasium Studievagl), who was named the AMCC Preseason Defender of the Year and also a player to watch for the Mounties. Donner enters his final season following a standout 2025 campaign in which he was named the conference's Co-Defender of the Year. He was also selected to the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Fourth Team All-Region Men's Soccer Team.
Donner, one of the team captains, will anchor a Mounties defense that will look to continue the momentum established last season while a large and talented roster takes the field.
Mount Aloysius will feature 36 players in 2026, including 20 newcomers. The group marks Davis's first recruiting class since returning to Mount Aloysius and brings a significant infusion of new talent to a program coming off an AMCC Championship appearance. The Mounties' newest class also brings an international flavor to the roster, with many of the newcomers hailing from Sweden, the Netherlands and England, while Norway, Jersey and Spain are also represented.
While the Mounties will welcome plenty of new faces, they also received a major boost over the summer with the return of redshirt senior forward Gonzalo Terricabris (Catalonia, Spain, Garbi Pere Verges), who was granted another year of eligibility by the NCAA.
Terricabris was the Mounties' top attacking threat in 2025, scoring 12 goals and totaling 30 points. His 12 goals ranked second in the AMCC, and he enters the 2026 season with 24 career goals, which ranks sixth in program history.
After earning AMCC Third Team honors in both 2023 and 2024, Terricabris made the jump to the First Team in 2025. He was also named to the USC Third Team All-Region Men's Soccer Team.
His return gives the Mounties one of the conference's most proven offensive weapons and provides a veteran presence at the top of the attack.
Junior Cole Taylor (Bedford, PA, Bedford HS / St Francis University), a preseason player to watch and a transfer from Saint Francis also returns and was tabbed with captain honors as well. Taylor appeared in all 21 games started 15 matches in 2025. The Bedford native tallied six points on two goals and two assists.
Between the posts, senior goalkeeper Sam Denchfield (Truro, England, Loughborough College) returns after starting 17 of Mount Aloysius' 21 games last season. His experience will be key as the Mounties look to replace several important contributors from last year's squad.
Mount Aloysius will have to account for the graduation of key contributor Tanner Polcyn, while Joel Martinez and Hippolyte Delhaes also departs the program. Despite those losses, the Mounties return several players with valuable experience, including sophomore Pelayo Martin (Ciudad Real, Spain, IES Santa María de Alarcos), who earned Third Team All-AMCC honors following the 2025 season as a freshman.
With a mix of proven veterans, returning All-AMCC performers and 20 newcomers, the Mounties enter 2026 with both experience and excitement surrounding the program.
Davis's first season back at Mount Aloysius resulted in a 12-6-3 record and a trip to the AMCC Championship. Now, with a full recruiting class of his own joining the program, the Mounties will look to take the next step and turn last year's championship appearance into an AMCC title.
The 2026 season brings high expectations to Cresson, and with the Mounties projected second in the preseason poll, a pair of All-Region standouts returning and one of the largest rosters in recent program history, Mount Aloysius will enter the campaign ready to compete at the top of the AMCC.
The Mounties begin their season on the road, as they'll open up the 2026 season at Muskingum University on September 1st at 7:00 PM in New Concord, Ohio.
