CRESSON, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball team made it two straight wins on Wednesday night, sweeping Lycoming College, 3-0, in the I Can Volleyball Classic sponsored by Sideline Cancer inside the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center.
The Mounties took control from the opening serve, winning by set scores of 25-17, 25-12 and 25-19 to improve to 3-3 on the season.
The night was about more than volleyball, as Mount Aloysius and Lycoming came together to raise money in support of Mountie alum Anne Volk through the Sideline Cancer initiative. With the victory, Mount Aloysius also evened the Sideline Cancer series at 2-2. Lycoming won the first two editions of the event in 2023 and 2024 before the Mounties claimed the matchup in 2025.
Offensively, Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) turned in a career night for the Mounties.
Barr exploded for a career-high 23 kills on 43 attacks, accounting for nearly half of Mount Aloysius' 47 kills. Fittingly enough, Barr delivered the final kill of the match to put the finishing touches on the straight-set victory.
Loren Stipanovich (Cresson, Pa, Penn Cambria) added six kills, while Sarah Iman (Purgitsville, W.V., Moorefield) finished with five. The Mounties hit .254 as a team and held Lycoming to just a .047 hitting percentage.
Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt) helped direct the Mount Aloysius offense with 21 assists, while Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State) added 13 assists. Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) continued to anchor the defensive effort, recording a team-high 20 digs. Reagan Karcher (Marietta, Ohio, Marietta) added 12 digs, while Cummings reached double figures with 10.
Mount Aloysius also held advantages in several key statistical categories, finishing with 47 kills to Lycoming's 21, 41 assists to 19 and 62 digs to 37. The Mounties also held a 6-2 advantage in service aces.
The Mounties return to action Saturday at the McDaniel Invitational in Westminster, Md. Mount Aloysius will face Goucher College at 1 p.m. before taking on host McDaniel at 3 p.m.
