Mounties Rally for 2-2 Draw Against Wilson in Home Opener

CRESSON, Pa. - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team battled back from an early deficit to earn a 2-2 draw against Wilson College in its 2026 home opener Sunday afternoon at Kelly Field.

The Phoenix struck twice in the opening 25 minutes, taking a 2-0 lead midway through the first half.

The Mounties answered before halftime, cutting the deficit in half when Brooke Mitchell (Washington, Pa., Trinity) scored her first collegiate goal as she found the back of the net in the 40th minute to make it a 2-1 contest heading into the break. Mitchell tapped in a rebound after Abby Bell (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg) had a shot on goal off of a corner kick.

Mount Aloysius carried the momentum into the second half and leveled the match in the 56th minute. Kaylee Dowdell (Windber, PA, Windber) scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Abigail Solano (Spencerport, N.Y., Spencerport), bringing the match even at 2-2.

Although things started to heat up from there, neither team was able to find a decisive goal over the remainder of regulation, as the Mounties and Phoenix settled for the draw.

The result gives Mount Aloysius a 0-3-1 record on the season.

The Mounties will remain at home for their next contest, hosting Juniata College on Friday, September 18, at Kelly Field. The Mounties are 0-3 all-time against the Golden Eagles.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
