September 14, 2026 - The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, cross country, women's volleyball, and women's tennis for the period running from September 8-13, 2026.
The Mountie volleyball sister duo of
Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and
Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) made their presence felt across the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) this week, sweeping the league's weekly volleyball awards. Mackenzie was named the AMCC Offensive Player of the Week, while Madison earned Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping the Mounties to a perfect 3-0 week and extending their winning streak to four matches.
Mackenzie was a force offensively throughout the Mounties' perfect week, totaling 52 kills across 10 sets while hitting an impressive .442. She opened the week with a career-high 23 kills on 32 attacks and a .688 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over Lycoming. Barr followed with 13 kills in a sweep of Goucher before adding 16 kills in a 3-1 win over McDaniel. She averaged 5.20 kills per set and finished the week with 60.0 total points.
Madison continued her strong defensive play in the back row, anchoring a Mountie defense that helped the team go 3-0 on the week. The senior libero totaled 56 digs across 12 sets, averaging 4.67 digs per set. Barr recorded 20 digs in the 3-0 win over Lycoming, followed by 14 digs against Goucher and a team-high 22 digs in the 3-1 victory over McDaniel. The honor marks the second consecutive week that Barr has been named the AMCC Defensive Player of the Week, establishing herself as a consistent defensive presence for the Mounties. Barr also achieved 1,000 career digs last weekend while volleyball was playing in North Carolina at the North Carolina Wesleyan Invitational.
Volleyball heads to Waynesburg University tomorrow. The Yellow Jackets are winless this season, sitting at 0-5. They play AMCC opponent Carlow University tonight before hosting the Mounties tomorrow night. First serve is at 7pm.
