CRESSON, Pa. — The Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team fell to Marywood University, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Kelly Field.
The Mounties battled throughout the contest, with goalkeeper McKenna Meadows (Lewisburg, PA, Lewisburg) providing a strong performance in net. Meadows recorded eight saves on the afternoon, including several stops to keep Mount Aloysius within striking distance during the opening half.
Marywood opened the scoring in the sixth minute before adding another goal in the 30th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Mount Aloysius goalkeeper Meadows made four saves during the opening 45 minutes.
The Mounties continued to compete in the second half and created several opportunities of their own. Mount Aloysius recorded three corner kicks in a span of just over two minutes, while Brooklyn Galinis (Hastings, Pa., Cambria Heights) and Becca Fetchko (Windber, Pa., Richland) each recorded a shot on goal during the contest.
Marywood added four goals in the second half to complete the scoring. Mount Aloysius continued to work defensively, with Meadows making another four saves after halftime.
Mount Aloysius finished the afternoon with three total shots, all of which were on goal. Abigail Solano (Spencerport, N.Y., Spencerport), Brooklyn Galinis and Becca Fetchko each recorded a shot on target for the Mounties. The team also earned five corner kicks compared to four for Marywood.
The Mounties will look to bounce back in their next contest as they continue their 2026 season as they take on Mount Union on Tuesday.
