ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - The Mounties split their games on the final day of the North Carolina Wesleyan Women's Volleyball Invitational. Falling to Regent University 3-0, before bouncing back in a 5 set thriller against North Carolina Wesleyan University 3-2. With the hard fought victory the Mounties finished third place in the Invitational.
Mounties Fall in Hard Fought Game
The Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Regent University on Saturday morning at the N.C. Wesleyan Invitational, falling by set scores of 25-22, 25-13 and 25-22.
The Mounties battled throughout the opening set, trailing 25-22 before Regent took control in the second set. Mount Aloysius continued to fight in the third set but was unable to force a fourth, as Regent closed out the match in straight sets.
Mackenzie Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) led the Mounties offensively with 10 kills on 28 attacks while adding a service ace and a block for 12.0 points. Jada McGill (Fishertown, Pa, Chestnut Ridge) contributed six kills and hit .278 for the match, while Loren Stipanovich (Cresson, Pa, Penn Cambria) added three kills.
Kyler Freeman (Lucinda, Pa., North Clarion) and Sarah Iman (Purgitsville, W.V., Moorefield) each recorded four kills, with Iman also adding a block. Jasmine Coble (Lewisberry, Pa., Red Land) finished with three kills, while Madison Barr (Pittsburgh, Pa., Shaler) and Kiersten Cummings (Las Vegas, Nev, Nevada State) helped anchor the Mounties' defensive effort with 22 and 10 digs, respectively.
Cummings also dished out 10 assists, while Reghyn Wilson added 12 assists for the Mounties.
As a team, Mount Aloysius recorded 32 kills and 57 digs while hitting .148 for the match. The Mounties held their strongest offensive performance in the opening set, recording 14 kills and hitting .262.
Mounties Win in 5 Set Thriller
Rocky Mount, NC - The Mount Aloysius College women's volleyball team bounced back in a big way Saturday afternoon, earning a thrilling 3-2 victory over host N.C. Wesleyan University at the N.C. Wesleyan Invitational.
The Mounties claimed the opening two sets 25-20 and 25-19 before N.C. Wesleyan responded by taking the third and fourth sets, 25-22 and 25-14. With the match on the line, Mount Aloysius came through in the decisive fifth set, winning 15-12 to secure the five-set victory. The win was secured by a game winning block from Loren Stipanovich.
Mackenzie Barr powered the Mounties' offense throughout the match, finishing with a team-high 19 kills on 40 attacks while hitting an impressive .350. Barr also added a block and finished with 20.0 points.
Jada McGill and Jasmine Coble each recorded seven kills, while Loren Stipanovich added four. Sarah Iman contributed three kills in four sets, while Ava Patton (Bellwood, Pa, Bellwood-Antis) added two kills.
The Mounties also received a strong performance from their defensive unit. Madison Barr led the team with 27 digs, while Maya McIlwain (Rural Valley, Pa, West Shamokin) added 19 digs and Reagan Karcher (Marietta, Ohio, Marietta) recorded 10. Coble and McGill each contributed six digs.
Reghyn Wilson (Harrisburg, Pa., Bishop McDevitt) helped orchestrate the Mounties' offense with 22 assists, while Kiersten Cummings added 12 assists. Wilson also finished with a kill and seven digs.
Mount Aloysius finished the match with 46 kills, 93 digs and six service aces. The Mounties saved their best offensive performance for the second set, hitting .242 with 12 kills and just four errors.
The victory moves Mount Aloysius to 2-3 on the season as the Mounties picked up their second win of the 2026 campaign.
The Mounties return home on Wednesday, September 9, welcoming Lycoming to the ACWC for "The I Can Volleyball Classic", sponsored by Sideline Cancer. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m inside the ACWC.
